CHAPTER 2
YOUR WILD 4 SMILEZ ADVENTURE
Our founder Dr Bernstein began his own 5-year life altering adventure in orthodontics as a boy in South Africa. Unfortunately for him, headgear and braces were incredibly tortuous and after 3 years of not following the rules he had the epiphany that would change the course of his own treatment. By putting in the required effort he was rewarded with an amazing and confident smile.
CHAPTER 3
YOUR FIRST VISIT
After many years of requests, Dr. Bernstein created the "Wild 4 Smilez" Orthodontic Group with some of the best orthodontists in the country. This enables us to offer a more flexible schedule, more locations, a combined resource of knowledge and experience, and the group purchasing power in order to keep the ever increasing cost of health care to a minimum.
CHAPTER 4
Getting Your Braces On
We will apply the brackets directly to the teeth with an adhesive which we will then cure with a curing light. The teeth must remain completely dry during the entire process in order to get a good seal.
Nothing we apply to your teeth will hurt you, your teeth, or cause you any pain. We will try and make this go as fast as possible to minimize your time in retractors.
CHAPTER 5
Your First Week
Your wires or aligners are designed to move your teeth – since these teeth are not used to moving they have to get primed, this happens during the 1st week while you are adjusting to these new things in your mouth.
It takes between 2-10 days to get used to all this new stuff – you will also notice that the teeth start moving and aching – this is normal.
CHAPTER 7
Keys For Success - Communication

We aim to nurture our relationship with open and honest communication – This is part of our culture and having the opportunity to watch you and your smile transform is one of the most satisfying aspects of our job.
CHAPTER 8

- Parent/Responsible Party Involvement:

- Your Dentist is also part of this team – Ensures that health and integrity of the teeth and gums are maintained during and after the orthodontic process.
- The Most Important Member Of This Team Is YOU!
CHAPTER 9
Keys For Successful Treatment
- Proper Oral Hygeine
Proper and frequent ( at least 3x/day) brushing will lead to healthy teeth and gums and facilitate healthy and safe tooth movement with minimal side effects like swollen gums and recession, staining and tooth decay.
Inflammation will also slow tooth movement and delay treatment. Ideally you should brush after every time you eat.
CHAPTER 10
KEYS TO SUCCESS
- CARING FOR YOUR BRACES
Conscious eating habits using common sense is the best way to avoid breaking braces, wires and other appliances that will delay treatment and may damage your teeth.
Avoid hard, sticky and chewy foods.
Please use common sense when selecting your foods and BE CAREFULL!!
CHAPTER 11
REWARDS PROGRAM
We want to reward your hard work and dedication to your treatment. That is why we introduced the Smile Rewards Program.
Its simple: You do well with your part of the treatment – you get rewarded.
The better you do the more points you get.
